Our Approach

At Made to Heal Therapy, our approach is defined by intentionality, integrity and the belief that the therapeutic bond is the most powerful strategy for effective therapy outcomes. We know that before meaningful, lasting work can truly begin, you must feel safe, genuinely seen without judgement and confident that your therapist is deeply invested in your well-being.

Healing Is Personal: An Integrated Approach

Imagine two people arriving at the same destination. While the goal of healing is shared, the journey is never a one-size-fits-all process. The pace, the obstacles, and the breakthroughs will be entirely unique to you.

At Made to Heal, we honor the fact that your history and your specific needs require a tailored approach. That’s why we use an integrated model of treatment, utilizing multiple therapeutic modalities and perspectives to meet you exactly where you are. By respecting the nuances of your personal experience, we ensure that your progress is authentic, sustainable, and deeply rooted in who you are.

Understanding The Root Of The Wound

The symptoms of suffering, such as lack of interest, motivation or hope, may be shared, but the cause in each individual is not. Our primary goal is to understand how you experience these symptoms and critically to explore the life experiences that brought you to this moment.

Have you experienced significant loss?

Perhaps the loss of a loved one, a career or an idea of who you were or what you wanted for yourself.

Did you have a difficult childhood?

Did you have an experience that wounded your sense of safety, self-worth or self-esteem.

Do you suffer from intense stress and burnout?

Depletion of your vitality that has left you unsure on how to reclaim it.

These details are essential for mapping out your personalized road to healing. For example, anxiety and panic might stem from a single traumatic event or they may be a result of chronic exposure to anger or rage in childhood, leading to hypervigilance. The treatment required for these two scenarios is vastly different, even if the surface symptoms appear the same.

The Made To Heal Framework: Integrity and Collaboration

Every therapist on our team operates within this integrated, root-focused philosophy. While each clinician is a subject matter expert in various evidence-based approaches (such as CBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems and Existential therapy), we prioritize collaboration. As a team, we share insights, teach one another and never stop learning new, research-based approaches to provide the best level of care available.

Regardless of the specific techniques used, every therapist at Made To Heal works within the framework of the 4 Pillars of Emotional Healing. This transformative work can only happen when there is trust, safety and authenticity within the therapeutic relationship.

Glossary of Therapeutic Approaches

We draw from the following well-established modalities to create a tailored healing plan for you.

Focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. CBT helps clients develop practical, present-focused strategies for managing symptoms.

Views the mind as being composed of various “parts” (e.g., the critical part, the wounded child part). IFS seeks to help the “Self”—the core of wisdom, compassion and clarity—heal and harmonize these internal parts.

A short-term approach, most commonly used for couples, that helps identify and restructure negative emotional patterns and cycles of interaction to create a more secure, lasting bond.

A structured therapy that helps the brain process traumatic memories, making them less distressing. It involves focusing on the trauma while engaging in bilateral stimulation (often eye movements).

Explores fundamental questions of human existence, such as freedom, responsibility, meaning, and death. It helps clients find deeper meaning and purpose, and encourages authentic living in the face of anxiety.

Recognizes that trauma and stress are held in the body (soma). This approach uses mind-body techniques to release physical tension, discharge traumatic energy, and help clients reconnect with their internal physical experience to achieve regulation.

Combines the cognitive restructuring of CBT with mindfulness practices. It teaches clients to observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment, helping them break the cycle of rumination that often fuels depression and anxiety.

Explores how past experiences, particularly early relationships, influence current feelings, thought patterns, and behaviors. By gaining insight into unconscious patterns, clients can resolve inner conflicts and create lasting change.

A behavioral therapy that helps clients stop struggling with painful thoughts and feelings (acceptance) and instead focus their energy on behaviors aligned with their deepest personal values (commitment).

Focuses on the stories we tell ourselves about our lives. It helps clients separate themselves from their problems, recognizing that “the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem,” and rewrite limiting or hurtful narratives to reflect their preferred identity.
