Taking the first step toward therapy can feel big, and our Referral Specialist, Jennifer Lake, is here to make the initial process as smooth and comforting as possible. Jennifer is your friendly, professional, and knowledgeable first point of contact.
Jennifer approaches her role with a high level of competency and a deep understanding of the therapeutic process, as she is currently a second-year Master’s student in Counselling Psychology. Her combination of warmth and professionalism will immediately put you at ease, reassuring you that you’re in good hands as you begin your healing journey.
Jennifer will begin her practicum placement in September. Through supervised training, she aims to offer compassionate, inclusive, and client-centred care that supports individuals in navigating life’s challenges while recognizing their strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth and meaningful change. She is committed to understanding each client within the context of their unique lived experience and believes in the importance of meeting people where they are. Jennifer resides on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. She enjoys spending time at the beach, connecting with family and friends, and appreciating simple moments that bring balance and perspective to life.
Her primary role is to ensure you feel heard, understood, and supported right from the start. When connecting with Jennifer, you can expect:
A Thoughtful Conversation: She will listen with genuine care to understand what is bringing you in and the particular issues you are looking to work on.
Information and Insight: She’ll provide you with clear information on our therapeutic approach at Made to Heal and any resources that might be helpful.
The Best Match: Jennifer’s expertise lies in matching your first session with the therapist in our group whom we believe is the absolute best fit for your specific needs, personality, and goals.
She values creating spaces where individuals feel heard, supported, and respected, and approaches her work with empathy, curiosity, and a strong commitment to ethical, relationship-centred care. Jennifer brings a diverse range of professional experience from community-based and non-profit organizations, group home and school-based support roles, as well as remote work within the mining industry. She has also spent several years living and travelling abroad. These experiences have deepened her appreciation for diverse perspectives and ways of living and reinforced the importance of connection and community in supporting wellbeing.
